PERSONALITY:
One of the first things that is usually noticed about Max is that she's quiet, and kind of a wallflower. This stems from both a proclivity for introversion and a general lack of self-confidence. This is also one of the traits that noticeably changes from the beginning of the game to the end, though it's not gone entirely. At one point she makes a comment about how she's always looking, through her camera, through windows... Looking but not really getting involved. Her kindness and drive to do the right thing is also noteworthy, and one of the big reasons why she does eventually get involved, to help people. However, she's a neutral good kind of person as opposed to purely lawful good, as the welfare of individual people is more important to her than law or authority. She also slips up on doing the right thing every once in a while as all people tend to do, but always berates herself afterward and tends to hold on to the guilt for some time, particularly if she's somehow hurt someone. She remains fairly level-headed even in a crisis, focusing herself on the task at hand, and will even on occasion take the lead in a team, even if she doesn't really think of herself as a leader.
Max is a geek at heart, when it comes to photography especially (she's wanted to be a photographer since childhood!) and of course some things sci-fi/fantasy and even RPG (tabletop and video game) related. She's also a dork that enjoys a good pun. Her grades are extremely average, though she does put effort into her work, just maybe not her absolute best, possibly out of a fear of being too noticed. (Also explains her fear of entering her photo into the Everyday Heroes contest.) Her teachers have commented that while normally quiet and somewhat nervous, she is also nosy. An abundance of curiosity seems to be a lifelong personality trait of hers, as it also goes noted upon in game by both Chloe and Joyce saying that in that regard she hasn't changed. This can be expanded upon by the player making her snoop everything, not just the things required to make the game progress. This version of Max? Definitely snoops everything she can, and has a hard time not doing it.
Guilt was mentioned before, and should probably be mentioned again because of the canon point and ending I'm taking her from. While she has guilt over many things just throughout the course of the game (having not talked to Chloe in five years, anything she does that could potentially hurt someone else, etc.), the fact that at this point she has sacrificed the entirety of Arcadia Bay (an entire town!!) for Chloe's sake (and maybe also her own, because she would rather have Chloe alive than dead) makes that guilt even more prominent. Especially since a lot of those people who she eventually let die, she actually saved at one point or another... Only for them to die in the end anyway. "You can't save everybody, Max" has become more like "You can't save anybody, Max" in her mind.
Some other things to note: Max considers herself a pacifist. She has a tendency to be a smartass, particularly if she's teasing a friend or being seriously sassy with someone she dislikes (and/or who dislikes her). She's comfortable with swearing though usually only with peers rather than adults she has respect for. Friends and enemies alike see her as being kind of "hipster," as she enjoys a kind of vintage aesthetic, indie music (she has and can play an acoustic guitar), and prefers using analog photography over digital. People in school who dislike her have also referred to her as a "feminazi." Multiple people who do end up liking her say she's "weird but cool."
Since this is a physical intimacy game, it should also be said that Max is a tactile and affectionate person with her friends and is more than willing to give hugs and shoulder squeezes and the like. More sexual intimacy she's unfamiliar with, but there is the potential for her to explore that in game if she feels close and comfortable enough with someone, or if her moonblessing traits help put her in that situation.
POWERS/ABILITIES:
These were her abilities back home, but considering the consequences of using her powers is eventually catastrophic (at least, it's implied that continuous use was what caused the storm that eventually destroys Arcadia Bay, though to be completely honest that isn't really confirmed unless maybe you take the Sacrifice Chloe ending getting rid of the storm as proof), I'm more than happy to have this nerfed or even removed completely. To be honest with you, at this time I have no intention of her using her powers in game, so even if she has them, I think what happened in Arcadia Bay will leave her with enough guilt not to want to use them anyway. Plus, time manipulation can be difficult to choreograph out in RP anyway, and would take a lot of discussion with other players to make work. If I remember correctly, it isn't mentioned in the FAQ whether players can take away their character's powers just because they want to, but honestly to avoid complication I would prefer to have her powers gone in-game.
INVENTORY:
1. Her bag
2. Her journal
3. Her camera
4. Her cellphone (Just so she can look at old messages, obviously she'll be using the game-wide communication device in-game)
5. Photos she's taken (Including optional photos and the ones found in her journal. Minus a few she didn't get in her timeline.)
6. Extra film for camera???
MOONBLESSING: Iris (Her "Spirit Animal" [this is the canon term but i will prob use something more like animal guide if i ever talk about it bc what is cultural appropriation] seems to be an actual doe, so. Gimme those doe transformation characteristics, man.)
