Do you have any plans for this character in the game? Just trying to deal with all the trauma she just went through back home, and the idea that she can't go back because she was currently involved in making a choice that would result in either the person she loves most dying or an entire town being wiped off the map. Hopefully she can make some friends and connections to keep her grounded here.

Character's Personality:

One of the first things that is usually noticed about Max is that she's quiet, and kind of a wallflower. This stems from both a proclivity for introversion and a general lack of self-confidence. This is also one of the traits that noticeably changes from the beginning of the game to the end, though it's not gone entirely. At one point she makes a comment about how she's always looking, through her camera, through windows... Looking but not really getting involved. Her kindness and drive to do the right thing is also noteworthy, and one of the big reasons why she does eventually get involved, to help people. However, she's a neutral good kind of person as opposed to purely lawful good, as the welfare of individual people is more important to her than law or authority, and she rather rapidly spins into breaking laws throughout canon in her search for the truth and desire to save her best friend. She also slips up on doing the right thing every once in a while as all people tend to do, but always berates herself afterward and tends to hold on to the guilt for some time, particularly if she's somehow hurt someone. (See: having ghosted Chloe for five years after her father died.)

She remains fairly level-headed even in a crisis, focusing herself on the task at hand, and will even on occasion take the lead in a team, even if she doesn't really think of herself as a leader. Even when being intimidated, she holds her own well and stands her ground. She'll even sass whoever is threatening her.

She's one of those rare characters that are mainly self-aware - of both her strengths and flaws, this is pretty evident by the way she writes about herself in her journal. The main thing she doesn't realize about herself is that she is talented, and brave, and nigh unflappable. It's encouragement from her best friend Chloe that usually results in her reaching fuller potential, because she has helped her believe in herself since they were kids.

Max is a geek at heart, when it comes to photography especially (she's wanted to be a photographer since childhood, it's her first love and she's a nerd about it) and of course things sci-fi/fantasy and even RPG (tabletop and video game) related. She's also a dork that enjoys a good pun, cannot dance worth a damn, and has no idea how to flirt. Her grades are extremely average, though she does put effort into her work, just maybe not her absolute best, possibly out of a fear of being too noticed. (Also explains her fear of entering her photo into the Everyday Heroes contest. She's afraid of the chance of rejection when it's something that means so much to her.)

Her teachers have commented that while normally quiet and somewhat nervous, she is also nosy. An abundance of curiosity seems to be a lifelong personality trait of hers, as it also goes noted upon in game by both Chloe and Joyce saying that in that regard she hasn't changed even after five years. This can be expanded upon by the player making her snoop everything, not just the things required to make the game progress. This version of Max? Definitely snoops everything she can, and has a hard time not doing it. Her curiosity about the world is boundless, and when faced with a real mystery she will put her absolute all into researching and solving it. (My reasons for leaning into her nosiness is primarily to help facilitate CR, since she is still an introvert at heart.)

She has a tendency to be a smartass, particularly if she's teasing a friend or being seriously sassy with someone she dislikes (and/or who dislikes her). She's comfortable with swearing, though usually only with peers rather than adults she has respect for. Friends and enemies alike see her as being kind of "hipster" or "twee," as she enjoys a kind of vintage aesthetic, indie music (she has and can play an acoustic guitar), and prefers using analog photography over digital. When Warren gets his 1970s car and talks to Max about going to a drive-in she mentions he's "in the wrong time, but then so am I." While that's true for some of her interests and aesthetic, she's actually very progressive on social issues. People in school who dislike her have also referred to her as a "feminazi," implying she's very outspoken about her feminist values. Multiple people who do end up liking her in the end, even if they didn't think much of her in the beginning, say she's "weird but cool."
