Max's outfits are usually understated, consisting of generic jeans, t-shirts with logos, a gray zip-up hoodie, and black converse shoes. She wears a three colored silicone bracelets on her right wrist. She can usually be seen wearing her shoulder bag. Make-up is also very understated, usually only consisting of eye shadow and eyeliner.
Personality
One of the first things that is usually noticed about Max is that she's quiet, and kind of a wallflower. This stems from both a proclivity for introversion and a general lack of self-confidence. This is also one of the traits that noticeably changes from the beginning of the game to the end, though it's not gone entirely. At one point she makes a comment about how she's always looking, through her camera, through windows... Looking but not really getting involved. Her kindness and drive to do the right thing is also noteworthy, and one of the big reasons why she does eventually get involved, to help people. However, she's a neutral good kind of person as opposed to purely lawful good, as the welfare of individual people is more important to her than law or authority, and she rather rapidly spins into breaking laws throughout canon in her search for the truth and desire to save her best friend. She also slips up on doing the right thing every once in a while as all people tend to do, but always berates herself afterward and tends to hold on to the guilt for some time, particularly if she's somehow hurt someone. (See: having ghosted Chloe for five years after her father died.)

She remains fairly level-headed even in a crisis, focusing herself on the task at hand, and will even on occasion take the lead in a team, even if she doesn't really think of herself as a leader. Even when being intimidated, she holds her own well and stands her ground. She'll even sass whoever is threatening her.

She's one of those rare characters that are mainly self-aware - of both her strengths and flaws, this is pretty evident by the way she writes about herself in her journal. The main thing she doesn't realize about herself is that she is talented, and brave, and nigh unflappable. It's encouragement from her best friend Chloe that usually results in her reaching fuller potential, because she has helped her believe in herself since they were kids.

Max is a geek at heart, when it comes to photography especially (she's wanted to be a photographer since childhood, it's her first love and she's a nerd about it) and of course things sci-fi/fantasy and even RPG (tabletop and video game) related. She's also a dork that enjoys a good pun, cannot dance worth a damn, and has no idea how to flirt. Her grades are extremely average, though she does put effort into her work, just maybe not her absolute best, possibly out of a fear of being too noticed. (Also explains her fear of entering her photo into the Everyday Heroes contest. She's afraid of the chance of rejection when it's something that means so much to her.)

Her teachers have commented that while normally quiet and somewhat nervous, she is also nosy. An abundance of curiosity seems to be a lifelong personality trait of hers, as it also goes noted upon in game by both Chloe and Joyce saying that in that regard she hasn't changed even after five years. This can be expanded upon by the player making her snoop everything, not just the things required to make the game progress. This version of Max? Definitely snoops everything she can, and has a hard time not doing it. Her curiosity about the world is boundless, and when faced with a real mystery she will put her absolute all into researching and solving it. (My reasons for leaning into her nosiness is primarily to help facilitate CR, since she is still an introvert at heart.)

She has a tendency to be a smartass, particularly if she's teasing a friend or being seriously sassy with someone she dislikes (and/or who dislikes her). She's comfortable with swearing, though usually only with peers rather than adults she has respect for. Friends and enemies alike see her as being kind of "hipster" or "twee," as she enjoys a kind of vintage aesthetic, indie music (she has and can play an acoustic guitar), and prefers using analog photography over digital. When Warren gets his 1970s car and talks to Max about going to a drive-in she mentions he's "in the wrong time, but then so am I." While that's true for some of her interests and aesthetic, she's actually very progressive on social issues. People in school who dislike her have also referred to her as a "feminazi," implying she's very outspoken about her feminist values. Multiple people who do end up liking her in the end, even if they didn't think much of her in the beginning, say she's "weird but cool."
Connections (Home/Spoilers)
Mother
Vanessa Caulfield
Father
Ryan Caulfield

Chloe Price - Best friends since they were kids. Didn't speak for five years (Max's fault). Reunited and Max thinks her feelings now may be more than friendship or love, but something romantic. Frankly, she may consider her the love of her life.

Warren Graham - Max's closest friend at Blackwell, someone in whom she can confide. She states that he makes her laugh. He's a chronic over-texter and over-talker, but always supportive, a good listener, and a protector.

Kate Marsh - Another good friend from Blackwell, they sometimes enjoy tea together, and discussing books. The sweetest soul ever, but in current turmoil because of intense bullying.

Nathan Prescott - Initially an enemy, more recent discoveries have led to her seeing him in a more sympathetic light, but she would still consider him dangerous overall.

Victoria Chase - The Queen Bee of Blackwell and a frequent bully of both Max and Kate. More recent discoveries have led to her seeing her in a more sympathetic light.

Joyce Price - Chloe's mother, and thus someone Max grew up with. The loss of Chloe's father distanced them terribly, and Joyce's attempts to reign in Chloe's unlawful behavior have led to her marrying a man who is borderline abusive to Chloe, a fact that Joyce is a little too casual about. Still, Max has a soft spot for her thanks to nostalgia.

William Price - Chloe's father, and thus someone Max grew up with. Died in a car accident when Max was 13. She'll never forget how awesome he was, and how willing to go along with their wild imaginations in order to make their adventures even better.

David Madsen - Chloe's stepfather and head of security at Blackwell. Military vet who is still way too militant, in love with guns and hunting, often makes misogynistic comments. He did save Max from Jefferson in the end.

Mark Jefferson - Originally Max's favorite teacher, who runs the photography program at Blackwell. She admired him and his photos and maybe crushed on him a little bit. He later drugged her, shot Chloe, and abducted Max to an underground bunker where he continued drugging her and posing her while restrained to take photos of her. She learned he had previously done the same to numerous girls (including Kate), and kept binders full of their photos.
Connections (In-Game)
Sakura - They've spoken twice on the net, but Max still considers her a friend because she knows some of Max's secrets and has been trying to help. Went with her to speak to the Council about saving Arcadia Bay.

Scott Hunter - Not only a friend, but there's something almost familial about this connection. Knows some of Max's secrets, and is always willing to provide an ear for her to share more.

Kip Grady - Not only a friend, but there's something almost familial about this connection. Knows some of Max's secrets, and is always willing to provide an ear for her to share more.
Abilities & Powers
Max has the ability to manipulate time (though she's not using this power in Iyashikei if she can help it), which mainly consists of the following:

Temporal Rewind: Max's most frequently used power is the ability to reverse the flow of time; she can comfortably rewind time several seconds to a few minutes. Max herself is unaffected by the time alteration, remaining conscious in a fixed position while time flows backwards around her. Any item(s) on her person before time traveling are also kept with her after the fact. She retains all recollection of events prior to rewinding, enabling her to act with knowledge she did not previously have.
"Teleporting": Max can also use her rewind ability to erase the physical and spatial position of her old self by walking to a new location, rewinding, and then resuming time. To bystanders, it would appear that Max has disappeared or appeared suddenly.
Chronoskimming: By focusing on a photograph, Max can transfer her consciousness back to the time period when the photo was taken in order to change the past and subsequently the future. However, once there, she is unable to pass the 'photographic bounds' (i.e. the location the photo was originally taken in) while the ability is in use. The ability also appears to be limited to photographs in which Max herself is visibly present, whether as a reflection in her own photography or a subject of someone else's. Max is also confined to exist within the physical form she was in when the photo was taken.

In Character
Physical Affection.
Quite welcome! She enjoys hugging, and will happily do so with people she's known a bit, or even someone she doesn't know well if it's in a time of needing comfort.

Physical Violence.
That's a no. Max classifies herself as a pacifist and is not looking to get into fights. You're welcome to start fights with her, so long as she has an escape. For any serious injuries, I'd prefer to plot first.

Relationships.
While still trying to come to terms with the fact Chloe Price is the love of her life while also acknowledging she may never see her again, she's currently grieving her quite heavily. In game, any ships will likely take a lot of work.

Abilities & Powers.
I'm open to most things that aren't going to outright harm her or make writing a scenario less fun. If in doubt, let's plot first.

Content Notes.
When talking about her past, Max could bring up mentions of being drugged, abducted, and posed for pictures while drugged. Other possible mentions: guns, shooting, murder, bullying, suicide (attempted, not Max), viral video of a friend making out with people while drugged, alcohol use, marijuana use, drug use.
